Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Subiaco 1bd In Heritage Home Gem! on Thomas Street, you immediately get that “wow, this is actually special” feeling. The heritage building has this beautiful character that you just don’t find in modern hotels — think original features mixed with thoughtful updates that actually work. I mean, Subiaco is already one of Perth’s most charming neighborhoods, but finding a place that captures the area’s personality this well? That’s pretty rare. This four-star property stands out for its authentic character and attention to detail.
The Space
The one-bedroom setup is honestly perfect for couples — no wonder the feedback mentions how much pairs love this place. The room feels spacious without being overwhelming, and there’s something really satisfying about having your own proper space rather than just a hotel box. The heritage touches are everywhere but not in that forced, museum-y way. You know what I really appreciated? The attention to practical details that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere that gets what travelers actually need. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals during your stay.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about this spot — guests rate the location a perfect 10.0, and honestly, I get it. Thomas Street puts you right in the heart of Subiaco’s cafe and shopping scene, but you’re tucked away enough that it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. You can walk to Rokeby Road’s restaurant strip in about three minutes, and the train station is close enough that getting into Perth city center is actually easy. The parking situation is a huge bonus too — having your own spot on-site means you don’t have to stress about finding street parking in this busy area.
What Makes It Special
This property really nails that sweet spot between character and comfort. The heritage home setting gives you something genuinely unique — you’re not just staying in another generic apartment. I found myself actually wanting to spend time in the space rather than just crashing there between activities. The whole setup feels thoughtfully curated, like someone who really knows Subiaco decided to create the perfect base for exploring the area. Every detail has been carefully considered to enhance your experience.
Why Guests Love It
Beyond the obvious charm factor, this place just works really well for a Perth visit. You’re positioned perfectly for both the local Subiaco experience and easy access to the broader city. The combination of heritage character, modern functionality, and that unbeatable location creates something pretty special. Couples especially seem to connect with the intimate scale and romantic neighborhood setting — there’s something about wandering back from dinner on Rokeby Road to your own little heritage retreat that just feels right. The fact that recent guests consistently rave about the location tells you everything you need to know about how well this place delivers on its promise.

Guest Reviews
Good
Facilities were mostly good. Location in Subiaco and across the road from Kings Park was greatd
What could be improved: Plumbing is a bit substandard
Outside is quite scruffy. 'Veranda' not a pleasant space and other outside spaces are concrete with metal fences. Inside spaces get very little natural light.
Do not like being pressured to give 10* report.
