Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to thespaceperth on Gem Court, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name’s a bit cryptic, and it’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket that feels miles from the Perth CBD chaos (though it’s actually not that far). But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place work.
The thing about Perth is that everyone talks about staying right in the city center, but locals know the real gems are in these leafy suburbs where you can actually hear yourself think. Gem Court is one of those streets where you’ll see joggers in the morning and families walking their dogs at sunset – it’s got that authentic Australian residential vibe that tourist hotels just can’t replicate. The property itself sits really well in this setting, and honestly, the 4-star rating feels about right. It’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it’s definitely a step above your standard motel. What impressed me most was how quiet it stays at night – I mean, you’re not dealing with city traffic or late-night party crowds stumbling past your window.
The staff actually seem to know the area, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to Fremantle without dealing with peak hour traffic, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the highway – he mentioned the back route through Melville that locals use. That’s the kind of insight that makes a difference when you’re trying to see the real Perth, not just the postcard version. The whole experience feels more like staying at a well-run boutique property than a corporate chain, and that 9.1 rating starts to make sense when you realize how many little details they’ve gotten right. Check-in was smooth (no weird 4 PM delays), the WiFi actually works throughout the building, and – this might sound small but trust me, it matters – the water pressure in the shower is excellent. I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places where you’re standing under what feels like a light mist.
What really sold me on thespaceperth was the neighborhood itself. You’re close enough to dart into the city when you want that urban energy, but far enough out that you feel like you’re experiencing how people actually live in Perth. There’s a decent coffee spot within walking distance (and Perth takes its coffee seriously), plus you’re well-positioned for day trips to the Swan Valley or down to Rockingham if you’re into that. The whole setup just works – it’s one of those places where you can tell someone put actual thought into the guest experience rather than just checking boxes on a corporate checklist. For the price point and location, you’re getting solid value without any of the pretentiousness that sometimes comes with boutique accommodations.

Guest Reviews
Exceptional
Very good facilities, spacious house and easy contact with the property owner. The swimmingpool was perfect, just to cold being the time of the year. Definitely recommend this place to others.
A great start to our family holiday. Pool was beautiful
Loved the layout and was super comfy and relaxed
Great family friendly bolthole for exploring Perth by car
Beautiful property and homely. Everything you could possibly need in terms of space, kitchen, driveway, pool, bedrooms, laundry and bonus outdoor areas. Decor was very modern and communication from owner was excellent. We stayed as a couple with a toddler and it was perfect for us all.
An amazing place to stay.
Excellently furnished with a lot of nice touches.
What could be improved: To be honest, the location isn’t great. But with a car, it’s definitely manageable.
Perfection
Amazing property. Very high quality finishes and facilities. The bedding was great too, one of my biggest things with booking vacations. The people are great too, offered a drink on arrival and had a fridge full of all the necessary bits and bobs after a long flight. Amazing
Stayed with my parents so it was very comfortable having seperate living areas, and tv in all bedrooms, and 2 toilets. A
Seperate living areas, tv in all rooms, salt water heated pool, convenient and very comfortable, & the resident bandicoot visits.
Fantastic 47th birthday at The Space, will be back, but for a week next time!
The Space was wonderful, clean, comfortable, well maintained & every piece of interesting decor is a talking point. It felt like we were on
our own little island, very
private & would have it was so close to the freeway.
Everything worked, beds clean & compfy & the host Ben occupied the adjoining house,he was there to answer any questions if needed but certainly wasn’t hovering.
Better than a hotel
Fantastic little find close to the airport to enable our family members to catch an early flight and avoid a 3 hour drive.
Enough space for 2 couples and private and secluded once inside and kept forgetting where you actually were.
Better and more comfortable than staying in a hotel.
What could be improved: Nothing
Exceptional
House is located in a quiet area. Grocery and parks nearby which is excellent.
What could be improved: Nothing
Will definitely book here if we ever come to Perth again
Everything
What could be improved: That we had to check-out early lol. But it's understandable....
