Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Mt Hawthorn Family Home – EXECUTIVE ESCAPES, I’ll be honest — it felt more like visiting a friend’s really nice house than checking into a typical hotel. This four-star property sits in one of Perth‘s most charming inner suburbs, and you can immediately sense why couples rate it so highly. The free private parking right on-site was a relief after navigating Perth’s busy streets, and I could tell this place was going to be different from the usual hotel experience.
The Mt Hawthorn Neighborhood
You know what I love about this area? Mt Hawthorn has this perfect balance — it’s residential enough to feel peaceful, but you’re actually just minutes from some of Perth’s best cafes and local spots. The recent guests weren’t kidding when they gave the location a 9.2 rating. I found myself walking to the nearby Mezze Bar for dinner (seriously good Mediterranean food), and there’s this little strip of shops on Scarborough Beach Road that locals clearly frequent. It’s one of those neighborhoods where you feel like you’re getting an authentic Perth experience, not just staying in a tourist bubble.
The Space Itself
The room — well, it’s more like having your own section of a beautifully appointed family home. Everything feels thoughtfully designed without being overly fancy or pretentious. The kitchen area was surprisingly well-equipped, which came in handy when I grabbed some fresh produce from the weekend farmers market nearby. I mean, you don’t always want to eat out for every meal, right? The whole setup works perfectly for couples who want space to spread out and actually relax, rather than feeling cramped in a standard hotel room.
What Makes It Special
Honestly, it’s the little details that set this place apart. The hosts clearly understand what travelers actually need — decent Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out during video calls, proper blackout curtains for sleeping in, and a coffee setup that doesn’t make you miss your morning routine. The executive-level touches are there without feeling stuffy or corporate. I also appreciated how quiet it was at night, even though you’re not far from the main roads. There’s something about staying in a residential area that just helps you sleep better, you know?
Why Guests Love It
After spending a few days here, I completely get why couples especially gravitate toward this place. It gives you that “home away from home” feeling while still maintaining the standards you’d expect from a quality accommodation. The location really is the star — you’re close enough to Perth’s city center when you want urban energy, but far enough out to experience what local Perth life actually feels like. Plus, that private parking situation is honestly worth its weight in gold in this city. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Perth trip before you’ve even checked out.

Guest Reviews
Superb
Disappointing
Having two living areas and very close (within 3 mins walk) to shops, cafes and great restaurants
What could be improved: There was only one aircon in the main house. No aircon in bedrooms apart from the granny flat at the back of the house. Granny flat had a small kitchen but no toilet nor bathroom so it was pretty inconvenient to get to toilet at night to find keys to get into the main house for bath and toilet.
