Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Holiday Inn West Perth by IHG, you immediately get that feeling of being somewhere that knows what it’s doing. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard — you know what I mean? It’s not flashy, but there’s something reassuring about the whole setup. The staff actually seem to recognize returning guests, which makes sense given how many people come back here. I noticed right away how the place feels more like a well-run four-star operation than your typical chain hotel.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location on Hay Street is pretty much perfect for exploring Perth. You’re in West Perth, which puts you close enough to the city center without dealing with all the noise and chaos. What I really appreciate is how walkable everything is from here — the Swan River is just a pleasant stroll away, and you can actually reach Kings Park without needing a car. Couples seem to absolutely love this spot (they rate it 9.1, which is impressive), and I can see why. There’s something romantic about being able to walk to dinner along the tree-lined streets, then come back to somewhere quiet and comfortable.
The Room Experience
The beds here are genuinely something special — I mean, guests rave about them for a reason. After a long day of sightseeing or business meetings, you actually look forward to getting under those covers. The rooms themselves are well-designed, with enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Everything works properly (which sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places get the details wrong), and there’s this attention to comfort that goes beyond just having nice linens.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup really impressed me with its variety — they’ve got continental options, Italian touches, and they actually cater well to different dietary needs. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, or dealing with gluten-free requirements, there’s genuinely good stuff to choose from, not just afterthought options. The breakfast-to-go option is brilliant if you’re heading out early for day trips or business meetings. I watched people grab their coffee and pastries without any fuss, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to make the most of your time in Perth.
Why Guests Love It
There’s a reason people keep coming back to this place — it delivers on the fundamentals while adding those little touches that make a difference. The combination of that prime West Perth location, genuinely comfortable accommodations, and staff who seem to care about getting things right creates something that feels reliable in the best possible way. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Perth, but for travelers who want to sleep well, eat well, and have easy access to everything the city offers, Holiday Inn West Perth by IHG hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Superb
Loved the cleanliness of the room and the comfort of the bed. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. I also, like that the hotel wasn't overly large, this encouraged a feeling on intimacy and calm.
What could be improved: I would be great to have a magnifying mirror in the bathrooms.
