Overview
You know what struck me first about Dampier House? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Mullaloo where you can actually hear the ocean if you listen carefully – I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the beach, but it feels like you’ve discovered some hidden gem rather than just another beachside accommodation. The whole setup is honestly more like staying at a really well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel, which explains that impressive 9.3 rating.
The thing about Mullaloo that most people don’t realize is that it’s got this perfect sweet spot location – you’re far enough north of Perth to escape the city crowds (about 25 minutes to the CBD), but close enough that you can easily duck into Joondalup for shopping or grab dinner in Hillarys without it being a whole production. I actually spent a good chunk of time just walking around the neighborhood, and there’s something really genuine about the area. You’ve got families riding bikes to the beach, locals walking their dogs along the coastal path, and none of that touristy hustle you get closer to the city. The house itself sits comfortably among other well-kept homes, with decent parking that doesn’t involve circling the block three times – honestly, that alone is worth mentioning if you’ve ever tried to park near popular Perth beaches during summer.
What really sets Dampier House apart is how they’ve managed to nail that balance between being properly equipped and not feeling sterile. The rooms have that kind of attention to detail that makes you think someone actually lives here and cares about the space – quality linens that don’t feel like sandpaper, windows that actually open for cross-breezes (crucial in Perth summers), and enough power outlets in sensible places. I mean, small things, but they add up. The whole place has this relaxed coastal vibe without trying too hard to be “beachy” – no fake driftwood or cheesy nautical prints, just clean lines and colors that work. Mornings were particularly nice; you can walk to the beach for sunrise if you’re an early bird, or just sit outside with coffee and listen to the neighborhood wake up. And honestly, being in a residential area means it’s properly quiet at night, which is something you don’t always get at beach accommodations. If you’re looking for a base to explore the northern beaches or just want somewhere that feels more authentic than the standard hotel experience, Dampier House gets it right in a way that feels effortless.

Guest Reviews
Exceptional
Jamie was very accommodating and made us feel very at home. The flat came with some essentials which was brilliant
Enjoyable but a struggle
The location was good.Drive and steps bit of a problem for me as disabled person. But my fault for not telling you when I booked
What could be improved: Steep driveway and steps. As the owner had 4cars parked we had to park at the bottom of the drive
Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay with the family
The property had everything we needed and more. Well stocked cupboards with the essentials which saved us shopping, there was even a bucket and spade for the kids to play with on the beach.
What could be improved: We loved this property but if we had to improve one thing it would be a Better mattress in the master bedroom.
Enjoyed the stay, host was great, great amenities and clean place. Would love to be back again.
Pretty friendly host, clean place.
Wonderful
Everything was wonderful, thank you
What could be improved: The only improvement/suggestion I could offer is a better quality/new mattress in the main room, the only downside to our stay is our backs became a little sore after a week of sleeping on it, nothing major though!!!
Exceptional

It felt like a home from home
It was clean and tidy, had everything you need. Very comfortable plenty of storage.
Very comfortable place and ideally located
The place was very clean and comfortable and good value for money. The location is excellent and the owners were very friendly. The place was also well equipped with plates and towels and all that was needed during our stay
What could be improved: The only thing that was a little inconvenient was trying to start the gas oven.
Exceptional
Comfy beds and nice tv, owners were very understanding and caring. Recommended 100%
What could be improved: We liked everything
Great granny flat if you need something simple but comfortable
Location is amazing. The place is clean and tide bed is very comfortable.
Have a wonderful tv wifi and foxtel.
This place has everything you need.
What could be improved: Maybe just the location of the toilet, but you can't help that because if you're with mates and they need to go to the toilet they can wake you up.
