Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the ibis Styles East Perth, I wasn’t expecting much. You know how it is with hotel chains, they can feel pretty cookie-cutter. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby’s got this vibrant, almost playful energy that immediately sets it apart from your typical business hotel. There’s colorful artwork everywhere and this relaxed vibe that made me forget I was staying at what’s technically a 4-star property on Adelaide Terrace.
The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you know Perth at all. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Swan River, which means you can grab your morning coffee and actually have somewhere pleasant to drink it. The Claisebrook Cove area is right there too – perfect for those early morning runs or evening strolls when the city lights start reflecting on the water. I mean, you’re not in the thick of the CBD chaos, but you’re close enough that getting to Murray Street or the entertainment precinct is just a quick Uber ride or a decent walk if you don’t mind the hill. The train station’s nearby too, which came in handy when I needed to get to the airport without dealing with Perth’s somewhat unpredictable traffic.
What really got me was the attention to detail in the rooms. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many hotels miss this basic requirement), and there’s this modern, clean aesthetic that doesn’t feel sterile. The bathrooms are well-designed – proper water pressure in the shower, which is always a win in my book. Staff-wise, they seem to genuinely care about making your stay work. I had an issue with the air conditioning on my first night, and they sorted it out within the hour, no drama. The breakfast situation is solid too – nothing fancy, but fresh and varied enough that you won’t get bored if you’re staying for several days.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place where you’ll be lounging by a fancy pool or getting pampered at a spa. It’s more about comfortable, stylish accommodation that gets the fundamentals right. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on what it promises without any pretense. Parking can be a bit of a hassle during peak times (welcome to Perth city fringe life), but the hotel staff usually have decent suggestions for nearby options. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels fresh and modern without the hefty price tag of the premium riverside hotels, this is definitely worth considering. Plus, you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the city and some of Perth’s better neighborhoods without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble.

Guest Reviews
A Room Above the Roar: A Rest Stop for the Devoted and Drained Fan.
Stayed there for the football and this was the perfect stay. Right around the corner from Optus stadium, so close I walked there but far enough away that you don't hear the noise from the stadium. The room was nice for a one night stay and the beds were comfortable. The city view was a highlight. Such an amazing view for such a cheap price. The CPP carpark is also a convenient highlight, being around the corner and only 15 bucks a day. When I stay for a game of footy, this is a must stay
What could be improved: The room is a little bit smaller than the pictures on my booking make them seem. I thought it was a nice little room, but it could be a negative for someone else, so keep that in mind for your stay.
Fabulous highly recommend
Staff were very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Rooms were clean and bright. Bed was super comfortable. Our room was great value for money, which included a delicious buffet breakfast. Excellent location
What could be improved: Rooms warmed up quickly even without the heating on. Food was quite expensive in the restaurant - $9 for a small basket of fries, however, drinks were well priced.
Very good
Perfect location
What could be improved: The location of soap table (made of glass) in the shower area. Try to relocate or reduce the size as it obstructs while taking the shower.
Very good
Location and price
What could be improved: Room was a little too small for two single beds
Superb
Miss Jacke is very good infcat other receptiat are also very cooperative
Very good
The receptionnis very cooperative especially Miss Jackie who really guided me while i had an issue which i was new to in Perth
What could be improved: Nothing
Great Stay close to Langly Park
Great stay just outside of the city. Perfect walking distance to Langley Park and along the waterfront and into the city for Pitt Street and hay Street mall shopping (25mins). Few food options nearby if you don't want the hotel menu. Easy check in process with friendly staff. Rooms are adequately sized and our request for a cot was promptly followed through. Decorated with a fun twist rather than the modern boring normal hotels! Also bonus for a block out blind for napping during the day.
What could be improved: The bags behind the check in desk seems a little less secure and rather messy for a hotel reception. But I get it has to be done
Very good
Clean, style, modern and spacious
What could be improved: The shower-head was leaking and therefore lost power.
Nice place at reasonable price
The cleanliness of the place and friendly staff
What could be improved: No swimming pool
Very good
Perfect for a quick stopover.
