Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Windsor Lodge on Preston Street, you immediately get that feeling this isn’t your typical chain hotel. It’s one of those places that feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s house — if your friend happened to have excellent taste and a knack for hospitality. The three-star rating might seem modest, but honestly, this place punches well above its weight class. I mean, when couples are rating the location a 9.3 out of 10, you know something special is happening here.
Location & Neighborhood
Como is actually one of Perth‘s best-kept secrets, and Windsor Lodge sits right in the sweet spot of it all. You’re close enough to the city center that getting around is a breeze, but far enough out that you escape the tourist crowds and hotel strip chaos. The fact that there’s free private parking on site is honestly a godsend — anyone who’s tried to find parking in Perth knows what I’m talking about. Preston Street itself has this lovely residential feel, and you’ll find yourself walking to local cafes and shops that most visitors never discover.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of comfort and character that’s surprisingly hard to find. Nothing felt overdone or trying too hard — just clean lines, quality furnishings, and those little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The windows let in great natural light, and you know what really impressed me? The attention to detail in things like proper reading lights and enough power outlets where you actually need them. It’s those small considerations that separate a good stay from a great one.
What Sets It Apart
Here’s something interesting — Windsor Lodge has way more repeat guests than most other properties in the area, and after staying there, I totally get why. The staff genuinely remembers you, and there’s this relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger in the common areas rather than hide away in your room. The property earned a 9.4 rating for location from recent guests, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all. You’re positioned perfectly for exploring Como’s riverside walks, and the local restaurant scene is within easy walking distance.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me about this place is how it manages to feel both professional and personal at the same time. The 8.5 overall rating reflects what you experience — solid quality without any pretense. Couples especially seem to connect with the vibe here, probably because it offers that rare combination of privacy and accessibility that makes for a memorable stay. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or celebrity chef restaurants, but you are getting genuine hospitality and a location that locals would actually choose. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Guest Reviews
Whilst breakfast wasn't great, we still like the place and would stay there again.
We love the location; it really works for us and even though it's "dated" I find that a cool factor, it's funky. It's super clean and nicely equipped.
What could be improved: The breakfast was very disappointing. Last time we stayed it was the best breakfast we have had anywhere. This time it was terrible. Must have been a different chef. We would go elsewhere for breakfast next time. The coffee was still good.
Perfect for our requirements.
We were recovering from jet lag so it was great to have the kitchenette with microwave and fridge. We could have a late breakfast without leaving our room 😊
Very comfortable
What could be improved: Loud talking outside our door at 2am!
Delightful hotel
Big room with kitchenette. Bed was comfy. Location is great near the shops.
What could be improved: Other visitors leaving early and making a lot of noise in outside carpark.
