Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to this place in Scarborough – honestly, the name “West Coast Delight Beach 1br 1 Bth” sounds like something generated by a booking algorithm. But man, was I wrong. This little gem sits right where you want to be on Perth’s coast, and after spending a few days here, I get why it’s pulling a 9.5 rating.
The apartment itself is basically what every beach holiday rental should be but rarely is. It’s got that clean, uncluttered vibe without feeling sterile – you know, actual personality instead of just white walls and generic art. The bedroom gets this gorgeous morning light (though if you’re a heavy sleeper, you might want to pack an eye mask), and the bathroom is surprisingly spacious for a one-bedroom setup. What really sold me though was the kitchen situation – it’s actually functional, not just pretty. I mean, there’s proper counter space and appliances that work, which is more than I can say for half the places I’ve stayed. The living area flows nicely onto what I’m assuming is a balcony or outdoor space, and honestly, that’s where you’ll spend most of your time anyway.
But here’s the thing about Scarborough that makes this place special – you’re walking distance from the beach (obviously), but you’re also close enough to West Coast Highway that getting into the city or up to Joondalup is actually doable. The beach here isn’t as packed as Cottesloe can get, especially during the week, and there’s something really satisfying about having that stretch of sand basically to yourself in the early mornings. Parking seemed pretty straightforward from what I could tell, which is honestly a relief because beachside parking in Perth can be a nightmare during summer. The whole area has this relaxed, almost sleepy vibe that I really appreciated – it’s developed enough that you’ve got cafes and shops within walking distance, but it hasn’t been completely overrun yet. I spent one evening just wandering around the neighborhood, and there’s this mix of older beach houses and newer apartments that feels authentic rather than resort-y. The sound of the ocean is constant but not overwhelming, and there’s something about falling asleep to that rhythm that just works. If you’re coming during peak season, book early – places like this that actually live up to their ratings don’t stay available long.
