Overview
You know what caught me off guard about 188 Apartments? The moment I walked into the lobby, it actually felt like someone’s really well-designed home rather than another sterile hotel. I mean, Perth’s got plenty of cookie-cutter places, but this spot on Newcastle Street has this warm, lived-in vibe that’s honestly refreshing. The whole building sits right in the heart of Northbridge β and before you roll your eyes thinking “oh great, party central,” hear me out. Yes, you’re literally steps from all the action on James Street, but the apartments themselves are surprisingly quiet. I think it’s something about how the building’s positioned, or maybe just good soundproofing, but I barely heard any street noise even on Friday nights.
The apartments themselves are what really sold me on this place. They’re proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge shoved in the corner. The kitchens are actually functional β I’m talking full-sized appliances, decent counter space, and enough dishes that you could realistically cook for a few people. The living areas feel spacious without being cavernous, and honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in Perth. There’s this attention to detail that you don’t always see β like the lighting is actually pleasant (not those harsh overhead fluorescents), and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. Small things, but they add up. The only minor gripe I have is that some of the bathroom fixtures feel a bit dated, but nothing that would stop me from staying again.
Here’s the thing about the location that really makes this place work β you’re basically equidistant from the CBD and some of Perth’s best neighborhoods. Walking to the train station takes maybe eight minutes, the Perth Cultural Centre is right there, and if you’re into the whole Northbridge food scene, you’re spoiled for choice. I loved being able to grab coffee at one of the little cafes on William Street in the morning, then walk over to the Art Gallery in the afternoon. Plus, parking here is way less of a nightmare than most places in the city center β there’s actually street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, and the hotel can sort you out with options if you’re driving. The staff seem to genuinely know the area too, which is surprisingly rare. They pointed me toward this great little Vietnamese place on Francis Street that I never would have found otherwise. At an 8.7 rating, this place has clearly figured out how to balance being in the thick of things without feeling chaotic, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience Perth rather than just survive it.

Great place to stay in Perth!
The location was great being in a vibrant area of the city - but also slightly tucked away so that it wasnβt too noisy. 10 min walk to Perth station and the CBD.
The apartment was clean and comfortable and well stocked with everything you need. I was only staying for 3 days but the apartment could be used for a longer stay very comfortably.
Check in was easy and the staff was easy to communicate with on arrival.
What could be improved: Nothing to note - pretty ideal stay.
Excellent stay - Perth
A beautiful apartment - we were actually upgraded to a much bigger apartment than what we had booked which was fantastic. The 2 bed apartment had lots of complimentary snacks in the fridge, everything you needed to cook and clean, including hoover, airer, ironing board, washer, dryer etc. Including any washing liquids, sprays, dishwasher tabs - more than enough. Excellent location. Short walk to Perth station, some superb restaurants and pubs nearby, and can catch the blue CAT bus one street away - the CAT busses are free in the CBD. Also, within a 25 min walk to the jetty to catch ferries if you book any (recommend Rottnest Island) - we walked before we knew about the busses, haha!
What could be improved: One of the balcony doors of the master bedroom, didn't close properly, so some outside noise was a little louder than it could have been, but outside noise was not that bad really.
Would have appreciated a full length mirror in the master bedroom, if I'm being picky!
Superb
Easy access to eateries around the apartment
What could be improved: NIL
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at the very clean, comfortable and well equipped apartment.
Very clean. Everything needed for a comfortable stay provided for, well-maintained, in good working condition and look new. Conveniently located near many restaurants, shops and amenities.
What could be improved: Limited and very tight car-parking lot.
