Overview
You know what? When I first saw “West Beach Lagoon 206 – Sleeps Three! Value!!!” I honestly thought it was going to be one of those overhyped budget places with more exclamation marks than actual amenities. But I was wrong – this little unit actually delivers on that promise, and I mean that in the best possible way.
The location is honestly the star here. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Scarborough Beach, which if you haven’t been, is this gorgeous stretch of white sand that locals have been trying to keep secret for years (spoiler: it’s not really secret anymore, but it’s still amazing). The apartment sits right in that sweet spot where you can hear the ocean if you open the windows at night, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main beachfront strip. West Coast Highway is right there, so getting into Perth city is actually pretty straightforward – about 20 minutes if you time it right, though honestly, rush hour can be brutal.
The unit itself is… well, it’s not fancy, but it’s clean and functional in that unpretentious Australian way. The lagoon pool area is where this place really shines – it’s this calm, almost resort-like space that feels way more expensive than what you’re paying. I spent most mornings there with coffee, watching the early dog walkers head down to the beach. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Coles up on Scarborough Beach Road (it’s about a five-minute walk). Parking was surprisingly easy – there’s a spot that comes with the unit, which is honestly a blessing because street parking around Scarborough can be a nightmare, especially during summer weekends when half of Perth decides to hit the beach.
The “sleeps three” part is accurate if you don’t mind the pullout couch situation – I mean, it’s fine for a few nights, but if you’re planning a longer stay, two people would probably be more comfortable. The air conditioning works well, which you’ll appreciate because Perth summers are no joke. What I really loved was how quiet it gets at night. You’d expect more noise being so close to the beach and the restaurant strip, but the building’s set back just enough that you get this peaceful vibe after about 10 PM. The whole area has this relaxed, almost village-like feel that’s different from the busier parts of Perth – lots of families, morning joggers, people walking their dogs along the beach path.
Honestly, for the price point, this place punches above its weight. It’s not going to win any design awards, but if you want a clean, comfortable base to explore Perth’s northern beaches without paying resort prices, it’s hard to beat. The 8.2 rating makes total sense – it’s exactly what it says it is, no more, no less. Just don’t expect luxury finishes or a concierge service. What you get is a solid, unpretentious stay in one of Perth’s best beach neighborhoods, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
