Overview

You know what struck me first about Scarborough Coastal Escape? The location is absolutely perfect – I mean, you’re literally on Scarborough Beach Road, so close to the water you can smell that salty ocean breeze the moment you step outside. It’s this boutique-style place that feels more like a well-designed apartment than a typical hotel, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to actually relax. The building itself has this clean, modern coastal vibe without being too sterile – sort of that effortless Perth beach aesthetic that locals do so well.

What really impressed me was how they’ve thought about the practical stuff. Parking is actually sorted (anyone who’s driven around Scarborough on a weekend knows this is huge), and you’re close enough to walk to all the good spots along the Esplanade, but far enough back that you don’t get the weekend party noise. The rooms have this lovely natural light thing going on, and I noticed they’ve invested in proper blackout curtains – small detail, but it matters when you want to sleep in after a big night out in the city. The kitchen setup is genuinely functional too, not just for show, which is perfect because there’s a Coles just down the road, and honestly, Perth’s cafe scene around here is incredible. You’ve got Odyssea just a short walk away, and if you head towards the beach, there’s this whole strip of places where you can grab decent coffee without the tourist markup.

The thing that really sets this place apart though is how it feels like someone actually lives in Perth designed it. They get that people want to be near the beach but also need easy access back to the city – you can hop on the train at Stirling or Glendalough without too much hassle, or if you’re driving, you’re on the Mitchell Freeway in minutes. I stayed during peak summer season and even then it felt peaceful, probably because it’s more residential around there rather than right in the thick of the beach crowds. The staff genuinely seem to know the area too – they pointed me towards some local spots I never would have found otherwise, including this brilliant little bakery that’s tucked away on one of the side streets. It’s the kind of place where you can properly unwind but still feel connected to what makes Perth’s coast special, you know?
