Overview
You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first pulled up to Quest Perth Ascot on Great Eastern Highway – it’s one of those extended-stay places that could go either way. But this one actually gets it right, and I mean really right. The building itself is pretty modern looking, nothing too flashy, but once you’re inside you realize they’ve put thought into the details that matter.
The thing about staying in Ascot is you’re close enough to the action without being stuck in the thick of Perth’s tourist crowds. Great Eastern Highway can get a bit busy during rush hour (fair warning), but honestly, the rooms are well-insulated so you’re not lying there listening to traffic all night. What I really appreciated was how they’ve set up the apartments – and these are proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a mini fridge shoved in the corner. The kitchens actually have decent-sized fridges and cooktops that work properly, which is… well, you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because the grocery stores nearby are actually pretty good, and there’s something nice about having your coffee on a balcony instead of rushing downstairs to some overpriced hotel restaurant.
The staff here seem to genuinely know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they actually answered questions about the area instead of just handing me a tourist brochure, and housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive. I stayed for about a week and never felt like I was living out of a suitcase, which is the whole point of this kind of place, right? The gym is small but has what you need, and there’s a decent pool area that gets some nice afternoon sun. Parking is included, which saved me from dealing with Perth’s parking meter situation – honestly, that alone probably saved me fifty bucks over the week. The location works well if you’re doing business around the eastern suburbs or if you want to explore some of the Swan Valley wine regions without paying city center prices. It’s maybe a fifteen-minute drive to the CBD when traffic’s cooperating, and you’re actually closer to the airport than most Perth hotels, which worked out perfectly for my early morning flight. Look, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but it does what it promises really well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
