Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Ingot Hotel Perth? The name made me expect some sort of industrial-themed place, but honestly, it’s got this warm, welcoming vibe that hits you right when you walk in. It’s tucked away on Great Eastern Highway in Belmont – not exactly the flashy CBD location tourists usually go for, but that’s actually part of its charm. You’re about ten minutes from the airport, which is clutch if you’re dealing with early flights, and the drive into the city center is pretty straightforward once you figure out the riverside route.
The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. Everything works the way it should – the shower pressure is solid, the beds are actually comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but the details are right. Good lighting for reading, outlets where you need them, and – this matters more than people think – decent blackout curtains. The whole place has this quiet efficiency about it; you can hear some highway noise if you really listen, but it’s not the kind that keeps you awake. What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to know their stuff about Perth. Ask them about getting to Kings Park or the best way to hit Fremantle, and you’ll get actual helpful directions, not just a shrug and a tourist brochure.
The area itself is sort of interesting once you start exploring. There’s this whole strip of local cafes and restaurants within walking distance that most visitors never discover because they’re too busy heading straight into the city. The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can grab a proper coffee in the morning (there’s a place called Bada Bing just down the road that locals actually go to), but you’re still close enough to Perth’s main attractions that nothing feels out of reach. Parking is free, which – let’s be honest – is getting rare anywhere decent these days. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you add it all up: it’s not trying to be something it’s not, the service is genuine rather than scripted, and you get solid value without any nasty surprises. If you’re the type who prefers a good night’s sleep and easy logistics over being right in the thick of tourist central, this place delivers exactly what you’re looking for.
