Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at quite a few hotels in Perth over the years, and the Pan Pacific honestly surprised me in ways I wasn’t expecting. When you first walk into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that they’ve actually thought about the space – it’s not just another generic hotel entrance with marble everywhere. The staff at check-in seemed genuinely interested in making sure I knew my way around, which you don’t always get at five-star places.
What really struck me was the location on Adelaide Terrace. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Swan River, and if you get a room facing that direction (which I’d definitely recommend asking for), you wake up to these incredible water views. The morning light bouncing off the river is something else entirely. You can actually walk along the riverfront paths before the city gets busy – around 6:30 AM is perfect if you’re into that sort of thing. Plus, you’re close enough to the CBD that you can walk to most of the good restaurants and bars, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend chaos spilling out of Northbridge.
The rooms themselves are well thought out – not huge, but they use the space intelligently. The bathrooms are particularly nice, with those deep tubs that you can actually fit in properly. I appreciated the little touches too, like having enough power outlets near the bed (why is this so rare?) and blackout curtains that actually work. The air conditioning runs quietly, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep during Perth’s summer heat. One small thing that bugged me – the wifi was a bit spotty on higher floors, though it worked fine in the lobby and restaurant areas.
What sets this place apart, honestly, is how it feels like they understand Perth. The restaurant showcases local ingredients without being pretentious about it, and the concierge team knows the city well enough to recommend places that aren’t just tourist traps. They pointed me toward a great little coffee spot on Mill Point Road that I never would have found otherwise. The pool area is solid too – not massive, but it gets good sun in the afternoons and the deck chairs are actually comfortable enough to spend time in.
The 8.5 rating makes sense to me. It’s not perfect – the parking situation is a bit pricey, and the elevators can be slow during busy periods – but it gets the important things right. The location alone makes it worth considering, especially if you want to experience Perth beyond just the main tourist areas. You’re positioned perfectly to explore both the city and the river, and honestly, that combination is what makes Perth special in the first place.

What could be improved: No Coffee pod machine in the room... or we just couldn't find it? I am sure they will be able to sort this out.

Exceptional hotel. great service. great value. amazing breakast and great value at $27. Definately staying there again
Nice set up thru out the whole hotel
Nice hotel, breakfast
What could be improved: Well “river view” was a bit of a downer, if we tried to hang our head out the window we could see a glimmer of it
It was comfortable and classy and we loved it.
The atmosphere of the hotel. The room was so well set out.
What could be improved: The pool hours were a bit unrealistic. From sunrise to sunset in Winter is not alot of time.
Pan pacific
"The hotel's location was fantastic, and the staff were super helpful and friendly. They even offered a nice touch by bringing our bags to the room. The in house restaurants were top-notch, and we enjoyed the complimentary wine or beer at check-in. Plus, the free water in the lobby was a thoughtful amenity to re full your plastic bottles.
What could be improved: "Parking was conveniently located in the Wilsons parking building attached to the Pan Pacific, but be aware that it can get pricey - up to $40 per exit, which adds up quickly if you're coming and going frequently. Luckily, we were able to leave our car parked and enjoy exploring the city on foot. On a separate note, we were incorrectly charged for minibar items we didn't consume, but fortunately, the overall experience was still fantastic."
