Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Perth coast, and Ocean View honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. When you first pull up to this Scarborough spot, you might think “okay, another beachside hotel,” but then you actually get inside and realize they’ve got something special going on here. The lobby has this relaxed vibe that immediately tells you they understand what people want when they’re escaping to the coast, and the staff actually seemed happy to be there, which – let’s be real – doesn’t always happen at beach hotels.

The rooms are where this place really shines though. I mean, they’re not kidding about those ocean views. My room faced directly out toward the Indian Ocean, and I spent way too much time just standing on the balcony watching the surfers down at Scarborough Beach. The facilities are genuinely impressive without being over-the-top fancy – there’s a pool area that catches the afternoon sun perfectly, and the fitness center actually has equipment you’d want to use (not those sad hotel treadmills that sound like they’re dying). What I really appreciated was how they’ve thought about the little things… decent water pressure in the shower, blackout curtains that actually work, and – this might sound weird – but the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which has been an issue at other places I’ve stayed along this stretch.

You know what really sold me on this place? The location is just right. You’re close enough to walk down to the beach in about three minutes, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds right outside your window. Scarborough’s got this great energy – it’s not as touristy as some of the other Perth beach suburbs, but there’s still plenty to do. The hotel’s within walking distance of some solid restaurants and cafes along the esplanade, and if you’re into morning runs, the coastal path right there is perfect. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s tried to find a spot near Perth beaches on a summer weekend will appreciate. Honestly, with an 8.9 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but this place exceeded those expectations. It’s one of those hotels where you can tell they actually care about the guest experience, not just checking boxes.
