Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Melville Oasis, I’ll be honest — the name had me expecting something a bit more grandiose. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the street. This four-star property sits quietly on Melville Parade, and there’s something refreshingly understated about it. The fact that there’s parking right on site immediately caught my attention — anyone who’s tried to find a decent spot in Perth knows that’s actually a big deal.
Location That Actually Makes Sense
Here’s the thing about South Perth that most people don’t realize until they stay here — you’re literally across the river from the city, but it feels like a completely different world. I mean, you can see the Perth skyline from various spots around the hotel, but you’re away from all that urban noise and chaos. The location feedback isn’t kidding when it mentions couples love it here. There’s something romantic about being able to stroll along the foreshore in the evening, then come back to your quiet retreat. Plus, getting into the city is actually easier than you’d think — the ferry connections are pretty solid.
The Room Experience
My room was honestly bigger than I expected, which seems to be a theme with this place. The apartment-style setup means you’re not cramped into some tiny hotel box, and there’s actually space to spread out your stuff (you know how rare that is these days). The views vary depending on which side you’re on, but even the less spectacular ones aren’t bad. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was — thick walls, good windows, and you’re not hearing every conversation from the hallway.
Practical Perks
Look, I’m not going to pretend this place has every bell and whistle, but what it does have works really well. The free parking thing I mentioned? That alone probably saves you $20-30 a night compared to staying in the city center. The staff actually knows the area — when I asked about good coffee spots nearby, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. They pointed me toward this little place about a five-minute walk away that locals actually use. It’s those kinds of details that make a difference when you’re trying to get a feel for a neighborhood.
Why Guests Love It
After spending a few days here, I get why the ratings are consistently good without being over-the-top amazing. This isn’t the kind of place that’s trying to be everything to everyone — it’s just doing the fundamentals really well. You’re close enough to Perth to feel connected, but far enough away to actually relax. The value proposition makes sense, especially when you factor in the parking and the extra space. Honestly, if you’re the type of traveler who wants a solid base to explore from rather than a resort experience, Melville Oasis delivers exactly what it promises.

Guest Reviews
Wasn't the best stay everyone was so noisy
Location was terrible to close to hwy to noisy
What could be improved: Very noisy mould on roof
Difficult property to find
Directions to get into property were very vague as there is no signage saying "Melville oasis" and the directions suggest the entrance is in Scott St. We drove around the block 3 times and attempted to call the owner with no response. We then drove into an entrance on Melville that were called waterfront apartments and went down a very tight laneway hoping we were in the right place. Eventually finding we were in the right place and with relief finding the apartment. So please update directions to get into the property for future users. And it's probably a good idea to answer phonecalls as this would have saved us a good half hour of searching
Very nice place to stay at for the weekend we were there.
Nice cozy place for the weekend. Location is very good. Aircon was mint. Everything was very clean when we first arrived.
Great stay, location was convenient, well equipped and clean.
Breakfast was ok, it is about 10 to 15mins walk to Shell petrol station for a quick snack.

Great little apartment
Great location. Good proximity to city and only 15 minute drive to fiona Stanley hospital (where we had appointments to attend). Bed was very comfy. It's great having a separate living space. Nice big tv.
What could be improved: Decor was interesting, certainly not a deal breaker though.
Fantastic hospitality, neat apartment and so great to deal with fabulous owners
