When you pull up to 96 Caledonian Ave, it doesn’t scream “luxury retreat” from the outside – it’s tucked into this quiet residential street that most tourists would drive right past. But that’s actually part of its charm, you know? You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Swan River, and I mean the good part where locals go for their morning runs, not the touristy bits.
The unit itself (it’s Unit 6, if you’re booking) feels like staying at a friend’s really well-designed apartment, except everything actually works perfectly. The owner clearly knows what travelers need – there’s proper counter space in the bathroom, enough power outlets where you actually want them, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like most places. I was there during one of Perth’s random winter storms, and while I could hear the rain on the roof, it was more cozy than disruptive. The bed situation is solid too – I’m pretty picky about mattresses, and I slept better than I have in months. What really got me was the little touches… decent coffee setup, not just some instant stuff, and the shower pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: parking is street parking, but it’s never been an issue when I’ve been there. The neighborhood gets quiet after dark, which is perfect if you’re trying to recover from jet lag or just need to decompress after dealing with Perth traffic. You’re also walking distance to the Maylands train station – takes maybe eight minutes if you’re not rushing – so getting into the city is actually easier than from some of the supposedly “central” hotels. The 9.3 rating isn’t just people being generous; this place genuinely delivers on what it promises. Sure, it’s not going to have a concierge or room service, but if you want a clean, comfortable base that feels more like a home than a hotel room, and you don’t mind being slightly off the beaten path, this is honestly one of the better finds in Perth. Just don’t expect it to stay a secret much longer – places like this don’t usually stay under the radar forever.

Beautiful clean modern accommodation.
Modern, clean, and functional. I loved the decor, light and bright. The property was exceptionally clean, and had everything we needed.
It was walking distance to a bus stop, and the train station. It was a short train journey into the city.

What could be improved: Det var 30 km till stranden, vilket var längre än vi trodde när vi bokade. Krävs nästan hyrbil för att kunna röra sig fritt i den stora staden Perth om man väljer att bo här i närheten av flygplatsen. Inga möjligheter att sitta utomhus.

The whole apartment is the best we ever experienced. Light and spacious, perfectly maintained, quality furniture, perfect kitchen, great beds , excellent washing machine and dryer, fantastic coffee machine with abundance of quality coffee pods, very important for Dutch origin guest. And lots more cooking supplies to make you feel at home.
Charmaine was always very helpful whenever she could, very responsive, and solved minor issues caused by Telstra as soon as possible . The appartment has pleasant air-conditioning, and the outdoor balcony is well furnished and relaxing. The appartment is in a quiet area, close to Perth CBD, and to nice restaurants, and it has excellent parking facilities. All together, this could not be better! Thank you Charmaine, we would love to come back!
