Four Points by Sheraton Perth

Perth, Australia
8.3 Excellent
707 Wellington Street, Perth CBD, 6000 Perth, Australia

Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the Four Points by Sheraton on Wellington Street, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s one of those corporate hotel chains that can be pretty hit-or-miss, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re trying to do Perth properly. You’re literally in the heart of the CBD, which means you can walk to basically everything worth seeing. Murray Street Mall is about a five-minute stroll, and if you’re into the nightlife scene, you’re right there near all the good bars and restaurants. What I really appreciated though was how quiet it stays at night – Wellington Street can get a bit busy during the day with all the office workers, but once evening hits, it’s surprisingly peaceful for being so central. The rooms face different directions, and I got lucky with one overlooking the city rather than the street side, which definitely helped with the noise.

The staff actually knows what they’re doing here, which sounds like a low bar but honestly, you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. Check-in was smooth, and when I mentioned I was in town for a conference, the front desk guy (I think his name was Marcus?) gave me some solid recommendations for coffee spots that weren’t the usual tourist traps. Speaking of coffee – there’s a decent cafe right in the lobby, nothing fancy but they pull a proper flat white, and it’s open early enough to grab something before meetings.

What really won me over though was the attention to detail in the rooms. I mean, it’s not luxury by any stretch, but everything just works. The shower has proper water pressure (thank god), the bed is actually comfortable, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The air conditioning was quiet and effective, which matters more than you’d think during Perth’s summer months. There’s also a small fitness center that’s open 24/7 – nothing elaborate, but it has decent equipment and it’s rarely crowded.

The only minor complaint I’d have is that the wifi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, though it worked fine in the common areas. And parking isn’t included, which is annoying but pretty standard for CBD hotels. You can park on-site for about $25 a day, or there’s street parking nearby if you’re feeling adventurous with the meters.

What I really respect about this place is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, reliable business hotel that happens to be in an excellent location. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to give you exactly what you need without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re in Perth for business or just want a comfortable base to explore the city from, you could do a lot worse than the Four Points. It’s the kind of place I’d actually book again, which is saying something.

Very convenient for a late night arrival to Perth!

Great location!

What could be improved: No parking. Valet cost $50.

Walls weren’t very soundproof- could hear the couple in the room next door having a lovely time…

Comfortable and does the job.

Bed was great. Connected bathroom and shower were good. Location was pretty much central to what I needed to get to. Staff were lovely too and overall, I had a great time.

What could be improved: Couldn't figure the AC out after switching it off to go to sleep so after my shower was a bit of a bit of a chilly wake up but that my mainly my fault, I reckon.
