Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Batavia Apartments on Palmerston Street, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical hotel setup. It’s one of those places that feels more like a well-kept residential building than a tourist trap — which, honestly, is exactly what makes it work so well. The four-star property has this understated confidence about it, and you can tell from the moment you arrive that they’ve figured out how to make extended stays actually comfortable.
Location & Neighborhood
The location in Perth is genuinely impressive, and I mean that — it’s not just marketing speak. You’re right in the thick of things without feeling like you’re camping out in Times Square. Palmerston Street puts you within walking distance of the main business district, but it’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open. I noticed a lot of couples seem to gravitate here (apparently they rate the location 8.7 for romantic getaways), and after spending time in the area, I totally get why.
The Apartment Experience
What sets Batavia apart is that each apartment feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. The layouts are thoughtful — you’ve got proper living spaces, and the kitchen setups are actually functional for cooking real meals, not just reheating leftovers. I was surprised by how many little touches they’ve included, like decent cookware and enough counter space to spread out. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a week and not feel like you’re living out of a suitcase.
Practical Perks
Here’s something that’ll save you headaches — they’ve got free parking right on site, which is honestly a godsend in Perth’s city center. You know how stressful it can be driving around looking for a spot, especially when you’re hauling luggage? Well, that’s just not an issue here. The staff seems to have their act together too, and there’s something to be said for the fact that so many guests come back repeatedly. When people choose the same place over and over, that usually tells you something real about the experience.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me about Batavia Apartments is how it manages to hit that sweet spot between independence and service. You get the freedom of having your own space — proper living areas, cooking facilities, room to breathe — but without sacrificing the reliability you want from a quality accommodation. The repeat guest thing makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s the kind of place that just works, whether you’re in town for business or taking your time exploring Perth. Plus, that location rating of 8.6 from recent guests isn’t just a number — you really do feel connected to the city without being overwhelmed by it.

Location was close to the venue we needed to visit and parking was very convenient.
It's definitely worth staying at, especially on weekends. The inclusion of a free parking space is very convenient,
The location is excellent, the facilities are outstanding, and the staff is very friendly.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, the body wash liquid machine can’t be used.
Good
The apartment has everything you need, including a balcony and a kitchenette.
What could be improved: The apartment would be greatly improved with a few additional tools and plates for the kitchen.
The apartment was very clean but the couch in the living room looks run-down making it look dirty
Easy and clean
Location and value

Great location
What could be improved: The lounge/ fold out bed was very very uncomfortable to sit on you definitely could not sleep on it as a third bed
Clean, spacious and well maintained accomodation
Nicely set out, very comfortable and spacious: bed was comfortable and doona very cosy. Great having a pool.
What could be improved: The towels were unusual - very similar to microfibre camping towels, had to get used to them. Unfortunately the tea towel ( for drying dishes ) did not absorb moisture hence had to drip dry kitchenware.
