Overview
You know what struck me first about this place? It’s actually tucked away on Broadway in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the typical tourist crowd hasn’t figured out yet. The B9 Crawley Apartment isn’t your standard hotel setup – it’s more like staying at a friend’s really well-organized place, complete with a separate sleepout that honestly makes the whole experience feel more spacious than most cramped hotel rooms you’ll find around Perth.
The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me. I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from UWA, which means the coffee shops along Stirling Highway are your morning playground – and trust me, that matters when you’re trying to ease into Perth time. The apartment itself feels lived-in but not worn down, if that makes sense. There’s this comfortable vibe where everything works properly (the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, the shower pressure is actually decent), but it doesn’t have that sterile hotel feeling where you’re afraid to put your feet up. The sleepout is this nice bonus space that works perfectly if you’re traveling with someone who has different sleep schedules – or honestly, just want somewhere quiet to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase.
What I really appreciated was how the owners seemed to understand what travelers actually need. There’s proper kitchen space, not just a mini-fridge and a kettle, so you can grab groceries from the IGA down the road and actually cook something that isn’t overpriced room service. The parking situation is straightforward too – none of that circling-the-block nonsense you get in the city center. It’s quiet enough that you’ll sleep well, but you’re still close enough to Fremantle that you can easily duck down there for dinner without it being a whole expedition. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you stay here; it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should. Plus, being near the university means the area has that nice mix of local cafes and actual useful shops, rather than just tourist traps selling overpriced souvenirs.

Guest Reviews
excellent for what we needed
location cleanliness and comfort
What could be improved: all fine
it was fine.
good host. responsive and friendly. close to what i needed. i have lots of feedback below but overall i think the accomodation is fine.
What could be improved: property needs a bit of a refresh. no power points close to bed. overall ok for the price. hot water system was a little quirky. some deep cleaning needs to be done. shower was not cleaned and kitchen was in need of a proper clean. not filthy just needed a professional cleaning. the “rules” saying we need to make sure we clean the place was not unreasonable but the “request” to wash the bedding was a little unreasonable considering check out was 10am and that is usually not requested.
Exceptional
I really appreciate THE retro pavilion lifestyle this apartment had offered. Very factional and easy to maintain,..
Best part of it ....Very central to the restaurants/groceries/chemist/transport!!
Terry, the owner, is very approachable and prompt to communicate
It's is a little gem tucked away in the most sought-after area.
Great location, cosy space, lovely management, bit retro
If you're needing to be close to UWA, this is an excellent location! It's a 5 minute walk to the campus, and likewise a 5 minute walk from the local IGA. Terry and Sharon are lovely and approachable, and extremely helpful.
The apartment I stayed in (B9) is kept in excellent condition; it is decorated in a very homey and cosy style (I love the carved wooden triptych above the stereo). Both the apartment itself and the appliances are a little bit dated, but are very much operational. In case someone else is planning on working at a desk while staying here, the smallest bedroom (single bed) is where the desk is. It's a converted balcony so there is plenty of natural light.
I would absolutely recommend B9 to anyone staying in the area for an extended period.
What could be improved: The wi-fi is limited and has a tendency to drop out now and again - for most purposes, it's fine. As a benchmark: I was usually able to watch a couple of episodes of a show on Netflix without too much trouble; now and then it would cut out. Maintaining Wi-Fi Calling was difficult, and the 4G reception there isn't great (I'm on the Telstra network). If you need more than that, you'll need a way to boost your connection.
I was initially excited that there was a stereo, only to discover that it is old enough to have only a cassette deck and CD player - the auxiliary input is stereo (I think it might actually be RCA as well). I bought a bluetooth speaker, problem solved.
Good
