Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Attika Hotel – it’s one of those places that grows on you once you figure out what it’s actually about. When I first pulled up to 279 Newcastle Street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. The building itself is pretty understated, which in Northbridge actually works in its favor because you’re not dealing with some flashy tourist trap situation.
What I really appreciate about this place is how it sits right in the thick of things without being obnoxious about it. You’re basically a two-minute walk from the Cultural Centre train station, which means you can actually get around Perth without constantly calling Ubers. And here’s the thing about Northbridge that most people don’t realize until they stay there – yeah, it gets lively on weekends (I mean, it’s the entertainment district), but during the week it’s surprisingly chill. The Attika seems to have found this sweet spot where you can walk to Chinatown for some proper late-night noodles, but you’re not lying awake listening to street noise all night.
The rooms themselves are… well, they’re solid 4-star without trying too hard. Nothing revolutionary, but everything works the way it should, and honestly, that’s more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The air conditioning actually keeps up with Perth summers, which is crucial, and the beds are comfortable enough that I wasn’t thinking about my back in the morning. What surprised me was how quiet it gets once you close the windows – they’ve clearly put some thought into the soundproofing. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me because it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s not going to disappoint you either. It’s that reliable middle ground where you can focus on exploring the city instead of dealing with hotel drama.
You know what really sold me on this place though? The staff actually know the area. When I asked about getting to Kings Park (because obviously), they didn’t just point me toward the tourist shuttle – they told me about the free CAT bus that runs right past the hotel and drops you basically at the park entrance. Little things like that make a difference when you’re trying to get your bearings in a new city. Plus, parking is reasonable by Perth standards, which if you’ve ever tried to park in the CBD, you’ll understand why that matters.
I’d probably stay here again, especially if I wanted to be close to the action but not right in the middle of the casino crowds down on the river. It’s got that neighborhood feel where you can grab coffee at one of the local spots on William Street in the morning, then walk over to the Perth Cultural Centre if you’re feeling cultural, or just hang out in Northbridge and people-watch. Not fancy, not cheap, just… practical in the best way possible.

Guest Reviews
It was comfortable
The view of the city was amazing during the morning and nights. And the bathroom is really cleaned aswell .
What could be improved: Nothing
A one week visit to visit family and I walked everywhere. Streets in area are well lit so I felt comfortable when I had
Location is excellent with lots of eateries, coffee shops, a French patisserie across the road, 5 minutes walk to CBD, cultural precinct, and places to catch the free bus service (Cat bus). IGA in walking distance and Stop & Go store at end of street.
What could be improved: I Needed instructions on how to use TV as I could not get it off 9 network, also needed instructions for how to use combo washer dryer as unfamiliar with these.
A great location and friendly staff.
Great little French coffee and partisserie 20 steps from hotel. Easy walking to Yagan Square, bus and train depot and CBD. Also some very good hotels and eateries in walking distance to hotel.
What could be improved: Nothing to add
Pleasant
Really well priced, everything you need in one place & located centrally to the cbd
What could be improved: Unfortunately, the washing machine/dryer stained multiple items of ours
Very comfortable, clean and convenient location near the city. Good value.
Our second time here, very comfortable, kind staff, convenient location near the city.
What could be improved: Kitchen equipment could use a refresh and consistency across the rooms
Very good
The location, the size of the room and how clean it was. Staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome.
What could be improved: Was a little hard to see from the road, and the room has a joined door the the room next door that wasn't locked when we first got there.
A perfect location if you want to be central
Attika was in a good, central location. Easy walk to the city and restaurants. The rooms were spacious and sound proof. Good water pressure in the shower and bed was comfy.
What could be improved: The was no handwash in the bathroom as well as the body wash in the shower was empty.
In the kitchen there was only one wine glass and one coffee cup.
I felt the bathroom floor wasn't well cleaned as there was still hair on the floor.
Modern, well equipped small apartment hotel in a good location. Would use again
Modern compact apartment with all necessary items needed for any stay. Kitchenette was suitable for light meals.
Bed was comfortable
Very central without being in the heart of the city, close to parks, coffee shops , bars and restaurants
Staff very helpful
What could be improved: Headboard and under bedside tables were not clean or had been cleaned for a while
Not much storage for a longer stay
Good location and pleasant stay.
Location
What could be improved: Would have been good to have a bin in the bathroom instead of having to use the kitchen bin. Bedroom window did not close properly.
I did not like being asked for a photograph of both sides of my credit card for my bond security for early check in. When challenged they agreed to waive this request.
Very good
Location
What could be improved: Shower leaked over bathroom floor
