Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Applecross Riverside Apt, honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a four-star apartment rental. But you know what? This place surprised me in the best way. The building sits quietly on Matheson Road, and there’s something immediately calming about the whole setup — maybe it’s knowing the Swan River is just steps away, or the fact that you can actually find parking without circling the block three times like you do in most of Perth.
Location That Actually Matters
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim great locations, but Applecross genuinely delivers. You’re about ten minutes from the city center, but it feels like a completely different world — quieter, more residential, with actual trees lining the streets. The riverside walks are honestly addictive; I found myself heading down there every morning with coffee just to watch the water. What really sold me though was how easy it was to get around — whether you’re driving into the CBD or just want to explore the local cafes, everything feels accessible without being touristy.
The Space Itself
The room — well, it’s really more of a full apartment — feels like someone actually lives here, not like a sterile hotel setup. The kitchen is properly equipped (I mean, you can actually cook a real meal), and the living area has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to settle in for longer than planned. The windows face toward the river, so you get these glimpses of water through the trees. It’s not flashy, but everything works well, and honestly, that matters more than fancy fixtures when you’re trying to feel at home somewhere.
What Makes It Work
Here’s the thing about this place — it strikes that perfect balance between being close enough to everything but far enough away that you’re not dealing with city noise all night. The building itself is well-maintained without being overly polished, and you get the sense that locals actually choose to live in this area, which always feels like a good sign. I particularly appreciated having proper space to spread out; after cramped hotel rooms, having a separate living area and full kitchen felt almost luxurious. Plus, the free parking situation is honestly a game-changer in Perth — you don’t realize how much stress that eliminates until you don’t have to worry about it.
Why Guests Love It
I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something genuinely romantic about the riverside setting, especially in the evenings when everything gets quiet and you can hear the water. But beyond that, it’s just a smart choice for anyone who wants to experience Perth like a local rather than a tourist. You’re close enough to explore the city properly, but you come home to this peaceful spot that feels completely separate from all that urban energy. The combination of space, location, and that elusive “homey” feeling makes it the kind of place you’d actually want to return to.

Guest Reviews
Very nice place, but probably not for guests with kids
Location was excellent
What could be improved: Felt as though I was imposing on neighbors as the other apartments were all tenants as far as I could tell.
Am happy
Location is ok.
What could be improved: Hungry Jack is nearby 3 mins walk. Grocer also 8 mins walk
Good
Very clean and tidy
What could be improved: The water either too cold or too hot. Hard so adjust a proper temp
Brilliant little apartment in a beautiful location.
This apartment is in a wonderful location, in a very upmarket neighbourhood. It’s just a one minute walk from the Swan River, with walking paths and cycle trails up and down the river bank.
The apartment itself was clean, comfortable and had all we needed to enjoy our stay.
What could be improved: The tabletop needs fixing in place so it’s useable!
Comfy & complete place in nice suburb
The apartment is located in a very nice and up market part of Perth. It is quite close to the city and close to a grocer (note that the prices there are higher as the grocer is located in upmarket suburb). Apartment has everything that is needed from cooking to laundry facilities. Automated garage is also good (remember to park outside first before getting key with remote control to open the garage door), internet speed is fast and quite a number of TV channels available. The outside deck is nice although we didn't sit there because it was cold, raining and windy.
What could be improved: The hot water in the shower and kitchen is not consistent. It can be suddenly cold and suddenly very hot. There seems to be some issues with the light bulbs because a number of light bulbs went off during our stay. But they were quite quickly replaced by the management.
Superb
It was very clean and fully furnished which made us feel more at home
Superb
Quiet, clean and the location is great. Close to the beach and close to shopping. Lovely place and I would happily stay there again. The directions to access the property are clear and easy. Fabulous!
What could be improved: The air conditioning struggled with plus 30 degrees outside. Other than that it was great.
Superb
great location and unit suited us to a t
easy to walk to local shops for groceries
very enjoyable stay
The location is good, view is great. Very quite location and convenient.
What could be improved: Board band speed was a bit slow especially on the weekend. If they provide shower gel rather than soap will be much better.
good lock up garage and quiet area but furnishings need to be stronger for use
lovely and clean
well set up kitchen and laundry
What could be improved: the kitchen table is very wobbly and dangerous I had a hot drink on one side when my husband cut his sandwich which caused the table to wobble and tip and my drink nearly split over me.
bathroom door couldn’t close Shower fittings cheap and not easy to use with the way they sprayed water
Too many rules re emptying garbage leaving all kitchen electrical items clean with warnings of charging for cleaning
I can understand if left very dirty that should be then addressed but not having to leave all perfect for paying guests
Only place in our travels that stated this We have always left our stays tidy and in order.
