Overview
You know what struck me first about West Beach Lagoon 123? The name’s a bit of a mouthful – honestly, it sounds like someone got excited with the listing title – but the location is absolutely spot-on. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Scarborough Beach, and not just any part of it, but the good stretch where the sand’s actually decent and you’re not fighting crowds of teenagers during school holidays. The hotel sits on one of those quiet residential streets that runs parallel to the coast, so you get that salty breeze without the constant thrum of West Coast Highway traffic keeping you up at night.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – nothing fancy, but they’ve clearly put some thought into the details. Large windows that actually open (thank god, because Perth gets stuffy), and if you snag one of the upper floors facing west, you’ll catch glimpses of the Indian Ocean between the apartment blocks. The air conditioning works properly, which is crucial during those brutal February days when it hits 40 degrees. I actually appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the coastal theme – just enough nautical touches to remind you where you are without feeling like you’re sleeping in a maritime museum. Parking’s included, which saves you the headache of feeding meters or hunting for spots along the Esplanade, and the staff at check-in were refreshingly straightforward – no overselling, just practical info about the area.
Here’s the thing about staying in Scarborough – it’s had this reputation for being a bit rough around the edges, but honestly, it’s cleaned up its act significantly over the past few years. The redevelopment along the beachfront has brought in some genuinely good cafes and restaurants, and you’re close enough to walk to The Sandbar for decent fish and chips or grab coffee at one of the newer spots on Scarborough Beach Road. The hotel’s positioning means you can easily duck down to the beach for an early morning walk (highly recommend this, by the way – the sunrise over the water is pretty spectacular), then be back for a proper breakfast somewhere nearby. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re looking for a base to explore Perth’s northern beaches without paying city prices, and you don’t need a rooftop pool or a concierge service, this place delivers. Just maybe suggest they workshop that name a bit.

Guest Reviews
Very good
The views, the bed. The ability to have a home away from home
What could be improved: The Luke warm shower and the stairs ( me and my partner fell down them 🤣
Superb
Amazing location, good value for money, modern bathroom and kitchen. Super clean and a really comfy bed.
What could be improved: Road noise is an issue due to thin windows but we were able to sleep. Sofas are dated and worn but served the purpose as we weren't in the apartment much due to its amazing location.
Great for a little family getaway
Location was great. Close to beach and restaurants / bars
Nice location, could be improved.
Sea view apartment. Comfortable. Facilities/Equipment good ...Aircon, TV, Fridge, Washing Machines. Nice Kitchen & Bathroom with a good Shower.
What could be improved: Old Apartments, Sofa's tired. Little things let it down, Net curtains, Fan Intermittent. Windows dirty. Also pool was cold (Early October).
Superb
Facilities and being close to the beach, restaurants, coffee shops.
What could be improved: Traffic noise.
Good
location , view .
What could be improved: no elevator so it is too heavy to carry big luggages to the top level units .
Good location but left exhausted after our stay
Handy to beach and cafes shops
What could be improved: No lift
We had to climb three sets of steps with our luggage
Room was very very noisy . Main road behind the bedroom areas. We had very little sleep each night due the traffic
This needs to be mentioned for quests before they book
enjoyable
absolutely loved the view and its been renovated beautifully. all the little things you need are included like washing powder and shampoo conditioner!
What could be improved: it’s unfortunate but the road noise in the bedrooms is quite disruptive to sleep. we stayed a Friday and Saturday and the noise woke me several times.
maybe glazing the windows would help.
Would recommend when spending time by Scarborough's beacb
Loved the seaview and the comfortable bed. The flat was clean, door opened with a code, everything as described
Superb
The location and the veiws from the top floor
What could be improved: No remote control for the split system.
