Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Walk to the Waves, I’ll be honest — the name had me curious, and it definitely delivers on that promise. This four-star property sits in Scarborough, and you can actually hear the ocean from the moment you step out of your car. The free parking right on site was a relief too, because anyone who’s tried to find a decent spot near Perth’s beaches knows what a headache that can be. The location truly sets the tone for an exceptional stay.
The Scarborough Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Scarborough Beach, which honestly has some of the best surf breaks in Perth. The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you get that beachside vibe without being stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. There’s a decent coffee shop just around the corner (locals know it well), and the sunset strip with all its restaurants is close enough that you can wander over for dinner without needing to drive. The neighborhood offers everything you need within walking distance.
The Room Experience
My room had this clean, beachy feel that actually worked — not overdone with nautical nonsense, just comfortable and bright. The windows are generous, so you get plenty of natural light, and if you’re lucky enough to snag an ocean-view room, well, you’ll understand why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. The beds are solid, and there’s enough space to spread out your beach gear without tripping over everything. Each room is thoughtfully designed for maximum comfort.
What Makes It Work
You know what really impressed me? The staff actually knows the area. When I asked about good surf spots beyond the obvious ones, the front desk guy gave me directions to a little break that locals use — that kind of insider knowledge makes a difference. The whole place has this relaxed energy that matches Scarborough perfectly. It’s not trying to be fancy for fancy’s sake, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully put together. This attention to detail sets it apart from other properties.
Why Guests Love It
I mean, that 9.2 location rating from couples tells you something real. Scarborough has this romantic thing going on — especially at sunset when the beach turns golden and the cafes start lighting up. You can walk to dinner, stroll along the water, maybe grab a drink at one of the beachfront bars, then just wander back to your room. It’s that easy, relaxed kind of trip where you don’t have to plan every detail or worry about logistics. Plus, having your car safely parked on site means you can explore other parts of Perth when the mood strikes, but honestly, you might find yourself just wanting to stay put and soak up that coastal atmosphere. The experience here is truly memorable and worth every moment.

Guest Reviews
Enjoyable
Location
What could be improved: Front door
Perfect location, nice enough hotel but could be cheaper.
The hotel was very close to the beach and all the restaurants and had a small patio/outdoors area to relax in rather than being stuck in a hotel room.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was fine.
Great stay
Great location, walking distance to beach and main strip, easy check in, and great facilities.
Nice location and accommodation was ok
The apartment was quite roomy
What could be improved: Very tired. Bathroom vanity was way too tall.
Although unit was below expectations the location was really good
Location was excellent
What could be improved: Unit was a bit run down, broken venetians on front door and side windows, bathroom vanity was very high, need to be a tall person to use it
Good location for Scarborough Beach
Convenient location for beach area
What could be improved: Needed a bit of maintenance
Good locations, but needs attention to detail when cleaning.
Location
What could be improved: Cushions, blankets and some kitchen items were not clean. Kitchen and shower taps need to be fixed so handles don't fall off.
Nice beach front apartment for a weekend away.
Great location on Scarborough beach front. Close to great restaurants and cafes. Quiet and had on-site parking. The apartment was very comfortable with everything needed. The complex was well lit at night which was helpful when returning in the evening. The ground floor apartment was easily accessible.
