Overview
You know what hit me first about Scarborough Shores? The sound. I mean, you expect ocean noise when you book a beachfront place, but this is different – it’s that proper rhythmic crash you get when you’re actually *on* the beach, not just near it. The hotel sits right on The Esplanade, which honestly is one of Perth’s better beach strips, and from most rooms you’re literally looking down at people setting up their umbrellas and kids building sandcastles.
The thing about Scarborough is it’s got this laid-back vibe that’s hard to fake, and the hotel actually fits into that instead of trying to be some fancy resort that doesn’t belong. The rooms are what you’d call comfortable rather than flashy – clean lines, decent-sized balconies, and those glass doors that actually open wide enough to let the sea breeze through properly. I stayed in a corner room on the fourth floor and could see all the way down to Trigg Beach on clear days. The air conditioning works well too, which you’ll appreciate during those February scorchers when even the ocean breeze isn’t quite enough.
What really works here is the location within Scarborough itself. You’re a two-minute walk from that whole dining precinct they’ve built up – honestly, the fish and chips at The Sandbar are worth the trip alone – but far enough from the main weekend crowds that you’re not dealing with drunk twenty-somethings at 2 AM. The hotel’s got its own parking (and you’ll need it, because street parking around here is basically impossible during summer weekends), and the staff seem to actually know the area. When I asked about good running routes, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic map – he told me about the coastal path that connects to North Beach and warned me about the sketchy bit near the old amphitheater that gets muddy after rain.
The breakfast situation is solid without being anything revolutionary – decent coffee, fresh fruit, and they do these little individual yogurt parfaits that are actually pretty good. But honestly, with places like Bread in Common just down the road in Fremantle, you might want to venture out anyway. The pool area is where the hotel really shines though – it’s positioned so you get morning sun but afternoon shade, and there’s this infinity edge thing that makes it feel like it flows right into the ocean view. I spent way too many hours there with a book, just watching the kite surfers doing their thing.
The 9.6 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for a four-star place. It’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it nails the beachside holiday feeling without any of the usual compromises. The wifi actually works reliably (tested it during a work call), the housekeeping is thorough, and the whole place has this relaxed efficiency that feels very Western Australian. If you’re looking for that proper beach holiday where you can walk to dinner, fall asleep to waves, and not feel like you’re staying in some corporate hotel chain, this is probably your spot.

Superb
Great location and spacious apartment. Great view towards the ocean and all amenities close by (supermarket, cafes etc). The apartment itself was neat and tidy with and had everything you could ask for.
Absolutely beautiful place with great options for swimming, food, drinks, shopping, relaxing.
The location was so good for all aspects .. The view of the beach was stunning from inside the unit, then walk through the sliding doors to the balcony , where the view was spectacular of the beach, Scarborough foreshore & restaurants.
The facilities provided were great inside the unit. Small pool was nice to dip in after the beach swim. Plenty of car space for parking.
Easy instructions for checking in after hours with lock box for room key, unit door has keypad door lock, so no need for multiple keys, or keys at all really.
The food options were plenty, great food just 100 meters from the unit..

Perfectly luxurious apartment in Scarborough with fantastic sea views.
Fantastic location with fabulous views of beach and the sea. Easy walking distance to beach, shops and many restaurants and bars. Supermarket nearby.
Apartment was spacious, spotless and well equipped. Washer and dryer excellent. Would recommend without hesitation.
What could be improved: Nothing
Overall a great place to stay, would book again! Thank you
Great location and views, all essentials supplied which was great!
What could be improved: The pool was out of action and only reopened the day we left. Balcony Glass balustrade was very dirty. We had to purchase more toilet paper for the 8 day stay.
