Overview
You know what struck me first about the Rydges Perth Kings Square? It’s actually got this perfect sweet spot location that most visitors don’t fully appreciate until they’re walking around the city. Sitting right on Wellington Street in the heart of Perth’s CBD, you’re literally steps away from the cultural precinct – I mean, the State Theatre Centre is practically next door, and you can easily walk to the Art Gallery or catch a show without dealing with any transport hassles. The building itself has that modern corporate hotel vibe, nothing too fancy but definitely polished, and honestly, after staying in a few questionable places around Australia, that reliability factor really matters.
The rooms are what I’d call “business traveler comfortable” – clean lines, decent space, and everything works like it should. The beds are actually pretty good (firmer side, which I prefer), and the bathrooms are well-designed with proper water pressure, though the lighting could be a bit warmer for my taste. What really won me over was how quiet it stays despite being right in the CBD – you’d expect street noise on Wellington, but their windows do a solid job blocking it out. The staff genuinely seem to know Perth well too, which is refreshing. When I asked about getting to Fremantle, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi but actually explained the train route and mentioned the weekend timetable differences.
Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Perth, and that’s actually its strength. The 7.7 rating feels about right; it’s solidly above average without any major surprises (good or bad). Parking is available but you’ll pay for it, which is pretty standard for this part of the city. The location really shines if you’re here for business or want to explore Perth’s food scene – you can walk to most of the better restaurants in Northbridge or catch the free CAT bus practically from your doorstep. I stayed during a busy conference week and while the lobby got a bit hectic during check-in times, everything moved smoothly enough. Would I stay again? Yeah, definitely, especially if I’m in town for just a few days and want something dependable without the premium price tag of the riverside hotels.

Guest Reviews
Very pleasant
Location was good, very close to public transport, easy to find. reception open all night to allow late check-in
What could be improved: Drainage in the bathroom, floors would tend to get quite wet after showering, as water from the shower comes out from under the shower door
