Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Riverview on Mount Street? It actually lives up to its name – and in West Perth, that’s saying something. I mean, you’re literally looking out at the Swan River from most rooms, which honestly surprised me because I’ve stayed at plenty of “riverview” places where you need binoculars and a creative imagination to spot water.
The location is pretty clever, actually. Mount Street isn’t one of those crazy busy Perth streets that’ll keep you up at night, but you’re still close enough to walk to King Street (where all the good coffee shops are) without breaking a sweat. The building itself has this sort of understated elegance – it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but it’s definitely a step up from your standard business hotel. Check-in was refreshingly quick, and the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood when I asked about dinner recommendations, which is rarer than it should be.
What really works here is the attention to those little details that make a difference when you’re actually living in the space for a few days. The rooms are genuinely comfortable – not just Instagram-pretty but actually functional. Good lighting for reading, plenty of power outlets (thank god), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine. The bathroom products are decent quality, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your suitcase. I stayed on the fourth floor and could hear the river at night, which was actually pretty soothing – though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe mention that when you book.
The whole vibe is sort of relaxed professional, if that makes sense. You’ll see business travelers during the week, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or corporate. Parking is onsite, which in West Perth is basically gold – I’ve stayed at places where you’re circling blocks looking for street parking at 9 PM. The breakfast situation is solid without being fancy, and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you want. They’ve got local coffee (not that generic hotel stuff), and the staff knows how to make a proper flat white.
What I really appreciate is that this place feels like it belongs in Perth rather than trying to be some generic international hotel that could be anywhere. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right consistently. The river views are genuinely lovely, especially in the late afternoon when the light hits the water just right. And being in West Perth means you’re close to the action without being right in the middle of all the weekend chaos around Northbridge.
If you’re looking for that sweet spot between comfort and location without paying city center prices, this is definitely worth considering. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax after a long day, and honestly, that’s becoming harder to find these days.

Guest Reviews
Couldn't have been better
Great location. Easy to get around and short walk to Conference Centre. Staff were excellent and very helpful.
The room had everything we needed and staff changed the towels etc every 2 days. Would definitely stay there if back in Perth.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Superb
Location was excellent. Room layout was good.
What could be improved: Dark walls - hard to do makeup etc.
Superb
Cleanliness, staff, location, Value for Money
What could be improved: Nil
Pleasant
Clean, convenient and comfortable.
Renovated old building with superb bar/restaurant.
The atmosphere of the restaurant and bar below. The view of the city. The tree lined street. Our room was comfortable and clean and we were right above the restaurant- no noise from there at all. Restaurant was 10/10 -
Had dinner here 3 nights and breakfast twice. Staff were lovely. Couldn’t fault it!
What could be improved: The proximity to the freeway and being an older building means not a lot of soundproofing from vehicles - this is the only negative I can come up with.
Superb
Excellent location, staff friendly and extremely helpful, clean and tidy.
What could be improved: The room was a little bit dated compared to reception and the restaurant.
Bathroom was fully functional but, again, dated.
Very enjoyable, would definitely recommend.
Lovely clean comfortable accommodation - perfect for a few days stay.
What could be improved: Shame there were no bars/shops in immediate vicinity but only 15 min walk into Perth center or riverside. On site cafe/restaurant was extremely busy so didn’t get chance to eat there.
Bright modern feeling hotel/motel.within walking distance of Perth's CBD and King's Park
Very nice hotel/motel.within walking distance of Perth's CBD and also King's Park.
Nice brightly lit, spacious rooms, with very well equipped kitchenette (fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle) with an iron and ironing board too!
Everything you woukd need for s short stay.
What could be improved: The toiletries were branded as Natural Earth and extolled the values of Natural ingredients. This effect was somewhat spoilt by presenting the toiletries in a lot of small disposable plastic bottles, rather than larger refillable bottles!
Very good
The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Superb
Loved the location & how close it is to Perth CBD & Kings Park.
What could be improved: If walking it isn't very close to supermarkets. If you are reasonably fit it isn't a problem.
