Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Coastal Retreat Modern Home in Scarborough, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a four-star property in this part of Perth. But you know what? This place surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Saint Brigids Terrace, which feels refreshingly quiet compared to the busier coastal strips, yet you’re still close enough to hear the ocean if you listen carefully. The modern facade immediately caught my attention — clean lines, thoughtful landscaping, and that unmistakable feeling that someone actually cared about the details.
Location & Getting Around
I mean, Scarborough has really come into its own over the past few years, and this property sits right in the sweet spot of it all. You’re about a five-minute walk to Scarborough Beach, which is perfect for morning runs or evening strolls — I did both during my stay. The parking situation is actually fantastic here, which anyone who’s tried to find a spot near Perth’s beaches will appreciate. There’s something to be said for being able to explore the city during the day and come back to your own guaranteed spot. Plus, you’re close enough to the train line that getting into the CBD is pretty straightforward.
The Space Itself
Walking into the room, I was struck by how thoughtfully everything was laid out. The modern design isn’t just for show — it actually works for travelers. The kitchen setup is particularly well done, with quality appliances that make you feel like cooking rather than just heating up takeaway. I spent a good chunk of one evening preparing dinner while watching the sunset through the large windows, and it felt genuinely relaxing. The living areas flow naturally, and there’s enough space that you don’t feel cramped even if you’re staying for several days.
What Makes It Special
Honestly, it’s the little things that set this place apart. The Wi-Fi actually works everywhere (you’d be surprised how rare that is), the shower pressure is excellent, and the beds are genuinely comfortable — not just “hotel comfortable.” I also noticed they’ve thought about storage in smart ways, which matters when you’re unpacking for more than just a night or two. The whole property feels like it was designed by someone who actually travels and knows what’s annoying about most accommodations. The recent guest ratings make sense to me — this isn’t just marketing fluff.
Why Guests Love It
After spending time here, I can see why couples rate this place so highly. There’s something about the combination of privacy, comfort, and location that just works for a romantic getaway or even a longer stay. You get the independence of having your own space without sacrificing the conveniences you’d expect from a quality hotel. The Scarborough location gives you beach access without the tourist chaos of some other coastal areas, and Perth’s attractions are still easily accessible when you want them. It’s that rare find where you actually look forward to coming back at the end of the day.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Perth before Christmas Pageant crowds fill the streets and rooftop cinemas sell out.

This coastal retreat house had everything you needed, kids were very comfortable here with finding toys and games, outside area to play in. High chair. Stools for them to reach things. The kitchen is well equipped and beautiful. We had a great week here.
