Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Between the City and the Sea w/ King Size Bed, I’ll be honest — the name had me curious, but the location on Evandale Street immediately made sense. This four-star property sits in one of those sweet spots that Perth locals know about but tourists often miss. You’re genuinely positioned between Perth‘s bustling center and the coastline, which means you get the best of both worlds without the chaos of staying right in the thick of things.
The Perfect Perth Position
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can actually walk to decent coffee shops and local eateries without fighting tourist crowds, but you’re still close enough to zip into the city center when you want to. The free private parking on-site is honestly a game-changer if you’re planning to explore Western Australia properly. I mean, anyone who’s tried to park in Perth’s CBD knows what a relief this is. The couples who stay here seem to get it too — they’ve rated the location 9.8, and after spending time in the area, I totally understand why.
The Room Experience
The room itself centers around that king-size bed they mention in the name, and it’s actually as comfortable as you’d hope. The space feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — you know what I mean? There’s enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, and the layout works whether you’re here for business or just exploring. The windows give you glimpses of why this place earned its “between city and sea” reputation, though don’t expect dramatic harbor views or anything like that.
Local Insights
What really struck me about staying here is how it puts you in touch with Perth’s rhythm. You’re close enough to catch the morning energy of people heading to work downtown, but you can also sense that coastal pull — that slightly more relaxed vibe that comes from being near the water. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that’s way more authentic than staying in some sterile hotel district. There’s a decent restaurant scene within walking distance, and honestly, the local recommendations you’ll get just by being in this area are worth the stay alone.
Why Guests Love It
Look, the 9.1 rating tells most of the story, but here’s what it doesn’t capture — this place works because it doesn’t try too hard. It’s not pretending to be something it’s not, which is refreshing in a city where a lot of accommodations either go full corporate bland or try to oversell their charm. The combination of that prime location, the practical touches like the parking, and the genuine comfort of the space creates something that just… works. Couples especially seem to appreciate having a proper base that feels more like a local discovery than a tourist trap, and after staying here, I can see exactly what they mean.
To book a hotel in Perth during Fringe World, visitors plan ahead to mix open-air cabaret with rooftop cocktails in Northbridge.

Excellent, very good.
All good, staying there was wonderful
Convenient for visiting friends . Comfortable clean space for me to relax
Excellent location for me to visit friends. The studio room with ensuite was spotless. The king size bed with down pillows was very comfortable. As I was out with friends during the day I did not make use of the communal facilities.

Excellent stay, kind and generous hosts and a great location.
Beautiful property with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Colin and Jenny made us feel so welcome and we loved having use of the bbq and pool. We didn’t have a car with us and this was no problem as the buses to Perth centre, Fremantle and the beaches were close and very easy to navigate. I’d absolutely recommend this place to stay in Perth!
