Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Suburban Escape on Shakespeare Avenue, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star property. The name had me thinking it might be one of those generic suburban hotels, but you know what? I was completely wrong. This place has character — it’s tucked away in a quiet residential area that feels more like staying at a friend’s stylish place than a typical hotel. The thoughtful design and welcoming atmosphere immediately set it apart from standard accommodation options. The property showcases exceptional attention to detail throughout every corner.
Location & Getting Around
The location is actually brilliant, especially if you’re traveling as a couple. I mean, you’re in Perth but away from all the tourist chaos, which gives you this nice balance of accessibility and peace. The parking situation is fantastic — free and private, which anyone who’s tried to park in Perth city center will appreciate. You can easily drive into the main areas when you want to explore, but retreat back to this quiet pocket when you need to recharge. The surrounding neighborhood offers a genuine escape without sacrificing convenience for discerning travelers.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was well-designed with thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The space felt modern without being sterile, and there’s something refreshing about having proper storage and a comfortable seating area. What struck me most was the attention to lighting — you’ve got options for different moods, which sounds small but makes a real difference when you’re settling in for the evening. Every detail contributes to creating a genuinely comfortable environment that exceeds expectations consistently.
What Makes It Special
Here’s the thing about Suburban Escape — it’s not trying to be something it’s not. There’s no pretentious lobby or over-the-top amenities, but what they do offer works really well. The staff genuinely seem to know their guests, and I noticed they remember preferences and small details. The whole property has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to slow down a bit, which is exactly what you need after dealing with travel stress. This authentic approach to hospitality creates a memorable experience for every visitor.
Why Guests Love It
I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something intimate about the scale and setting that works perfectly for romantic getaways or just quality time together. The recent guests aren’t wrong about the location either; getting a perfect 10.0 rating for location tells you everything you need to know. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’ve discovered something special, rather than just booking another hotel room. If you’re looking for a Perth base that offers genuine comfort without the tourist hotel feel, this is definitely worth considering for your next stay.

Guest Reviews
A very happy stay!
This unit was clean and tidy and provided for all our needs. A well thought out home with lovely finishing touches. A great location. We didn’t meet the hosts but Thank you 🙏
What could be improved: We couldn’t get the tv onto the channels but we are not very technical with new appliances.
Nice place , good bed and bathroom, laundry facilities. Need to sort out booking procedure
The agent asking us to cancel within minutes of booking thru booking.com was confusing. Then demanding our ID, and copy of our credit card when we didn’t know who they were and we were enroute was awful. They also wouldn’t give us the passcode to gain access to the property.
Kitchen needed more basics to use it
Wifi stopped after 1st day so no phone, computer, tv or Netflix access.
Neighbours were very noisy so couldn’t sit outside in 38 degrees
Needs a ceiling fan in bedroom as old air con unit too noisy.
Smartstaywa need to improve communication as they did not respond to wifi issue (I needed it to pay wages)
Booking.com were great on check in day to reassure us who smartstay were but I was willing to cancel at last minute due to stress.
Would use again
Near the city, simple accomodation with everything we needed
What could be improved: Quiet suburban area but noisy neighbours in the complex
Exceptional
