Overview
First Impressions
The Rose & Crown Hotel sits on Swan Street like it’s been there forever — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I actually appreciate. You know what struck me first? The way they’ve managed to keep that classic pub-hotel vibe without feeling dated or tired. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the staff genuinely care about what they’re doing.
Location & Getting Around
Swan Street is one of those Perth addresses that locals nod approvingly at when you mention it. You’re close enough to the city center that nothing feels like a trek, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strips. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.1, and after spending time here, I get why. There’s something about being able to walk to decent coffee shops and local spots without fighting crowds that just makes a trip better. Plus, they’ve got free private parking right at the hotel — which, if you’ve ever tried to park in Perth’s busier areas, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for from a well-run three-and-a-half-star place. Clean, comfortable, with that lived-in quality that makes you feel settled rather than like you’re camping in a showroom. The beds are actually good — not just “hotel acceptable” but properly comfortable. What I liked most was how they’ve updated things without losing character. You’ve got modern amenities where they matter, but the space still feels warm and welcoming rather than sterile.
Food That Actually Delivers
Here’s where the Rose & Crown really surprised me. The restaurant isn’t just hotel food — it’s genuinely good. I went in with pretty modest expectations, but the meals here are the kind that have you planning your next visit before you’ve finished eating. The menu hits that sweet spot between familiar and interesting, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. It’s clear why recent guests keep raving about the food — this isn’t just convenient dining, it’s actually worth seeking out.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is how everything just… fits together well. The location puts you where you want to be, the staff treat you like a person rather than a room number, and the whole experience feels genuine. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Perth, but it delivers on what it promises. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about a place that feels both relaxed and well-cared-for. You can tell they’ve figured out what their guests actually want — good food, comfortable rooms, easy parking, and a location that makes exploring the city feel natural rather than forced.

Superb
Room and Meal at Hotel
Very good
Clean and tidy.
What could be improved: Nothing
Exceptional
Rooms were good size, sink & coffee making, room backed onto the pool area with table & chairs on patio
What could be improved: Aeroplane noise on one day was disturbing & early. Keep the bathroom door closed. 😀
Old world charm in an historic suburb
Our evening meal, with a friend, was very good value in a lovely colonial setting

Served the purpose for our stay, prob a bit overpriced but the location probably makes it expensive!

What could be improved: Noise from the airplanes

A truly charming establishment!
A charming hotel, perfect for our 3 night stay.
The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Loads of offstreet parking.
A lovely dinning area and we enjoyed a few drinks in the outdoor area. A very pretty setting with a really nice atmosphere.
Would definitely stay again.
Room was lovely and spacious. Comfy bed. Lovely bathroom. Dark room at night. Padburys Cafe straight across the road for food and fantastic coffee.
What could be improved: The planes are the only obvious thing. They did not keep me awake at night but you hear them if you get up for the bathroom.
