Overview
First Impressions
The Great Eastern Motor Lodge sits right on the main highway heading out of Perth, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. I mean, you might think being on Great Eastern Highway would be noisy, but the room I stayed in was surprisingly quiet — and the trade-off for that location is pretty incredible. You’re literally minutes from the airport, which is a godsend when you have an early flight, but you’re also close enough to the city that getting around doesn’t feel like a mission.
What Makes It Special
This three-star place has something that a lot of fancier hotels don’t — genuine character and staff who actually remember you. The repeat guest thing they mention? I totally get it now. There’s something refreshingly straightforward about the whole operation, from the easy check-in to the way they handle parking (which is free, by the way, and right outside your door). The building itself has that classic motor lodge vibe — you know, the kind where you can park right in front of your room and not worry about hauling luggage through endless corridors.
The Room Experience
The rooms are clean and functional without trying to be something they’re not. I appreciated the decent-sized windows and the fact that everything actually worked — the air conditioning, the TV, the shower pressure. Sometimes you stay places where half the stuff is broken or barely functioning, but not here. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s plenty of space to spread out your things. It’s not going to win any design awards, but when you’re tired and just want a good night’s sleep, it delivers exactly what you need.
Location Advantages
Here’s where this place really shines — and I think this is why couples rate it so highly. You’re positioned perfectly for exploring Perth’s eastern suburbs, but you can also zip into the city center in about fifteen minutes when traffic’s decent. The highway access means you can easily get to places like the Swan Valley for wine tasting, or head out to the hills for hiking. Plus, there are actually some decent cafes and shops within walking distance if you know where to look, though most guests probably don’t realize that.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back isn’t flashy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies — it’s the reliability factor. You know exactly what you’re getting, the price is fair, and the location genuinely works for most travel plans. The staff seems to understand that travelers want efficiency and friendliness without the fuss, and they nail that balance. Whether you’re using it as a base for exploring Perth or just need a solid place to crash near the airport, it does the job really well. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a hotel — no surprises, just good value and a decent night’s sleep.

Guest Reviews
Comfortable and convenient.
Rooms are good size and comfortable bed.
What could be improved: It's getting a little tired and needs some TLC. Our toilet ran which made a noise all night and the taps were a bit tight to stop dripping.
Great location
Great location. Staff good. Parking on property. Plenty of parking in basement if carpark full.
What could be improved: The step at the door. I kept forgetting there's a ledge to step over.
Superb
Clean and tidy, welcoming comfortable
The bar for excellence was set on our first visit. The second visit was disappointing.
The room was nice but not as nice as our recent stay where we had a beautiful one bedroom unit and full kitchen with a lovely view out the front over Perth for the same price.
What could be improved: The much smaller room near a lift where we were continually disturbed by other people leaving as earlier as 4am with roller suitcases for the airport. The children were extremely noisy at that time of the morning.
A very good place to stay in a very convenient location
Great Eastern Motor Lodge is a good value for money hotel in a good location, friendly, helpful staff, ample parking and 24hr reception (which is very handy). They have their own airport shuttle as well. The deluxe spa room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a large bathroom (with a larger shower and corner spa), ample storage and had everything you need for a short, medium or long term stay. When I'm back in Perth and need accommodation I will stay here again.
What could be improved: Suite 198 is a deluxe spa suite on the top floor with the balcony facing Great Eastern Highway. The only negative is the road noise is VERY LOUD (and this is to be expected as GE Hwy is a main arterial road). The sliding door to the balcony is the only way to get fresh air as there are no other windows and the road noise is constant (trucks, sirens, motorcycles etc). You could try to drown it out with the TV or music, but then your neighbours wouldn't like you :)
Very happy with the hotel and room. We dont get a chance to get away together very often, we werent disapointed with our
Good location. Close to shops, take always cafes and restaurants. Rooms were clean. Love having a balcony. Very happy little getaway for us.
What could be improved: The hot water tap in shower leaked from the wall, kept our feet away. Shower head a little lax. An extra towel is handy (as a girl, I need to wrap my hair up after shower). An extra blanket in cupboard maybe. A little more crockery and cutlery would have been handy. More than one little milk and a few salt n peppers would be good. A chair or 2 on balcony and maybe a table would be good. But but no means did any of these things ruin our stay. Also internet seemed to dull on the tv channels. And if some people find it hard to rest or sleep with traffic noise, a room along the front wouldn’t be a good choice. Again, we were not bothered.
Great Eastern is "Great" It's our go to.
Location
What could be improved: We were upgraded to a room which was fantastic, however there was no TV in the bedroom.
Having said that, it was nice to sit in the lounge room, but couldn't doze off, which is something we like to do on a break.
The room is well equipped with everything especially if staying a few days.
It's fantastic to be able to cook toast. A full size fridge and microwave is awesome if needed.
We love staying here and will continue to do so.
Great value for money
Lovely place, we love the spacious room with kitchenette, good enough for light cooking, comfortable bed and pillow, working lift is another bonus point especially with the luggages 👍🏻
What could be improved: Tight corner of the basement parking and the vibes a bit eery at nightime, room not soundproof- we could hear the roadside noise, and the hotel is not walking distance to any food shops nor supermaket but if you have a car wont be a problem to find nearby shops
Friendly, efficient & great value for money.
The complimentary shuttle bus to and from the airport was much appreciated. The driver was excellent— he provided us with useful information regarding where to eat/shop. The staff were all very friendly & helpful.
What could be improved: The battery for air conditioner control unit was almost flat — I couldn’t read the temperature settings on it. (Sorry, I forgot to report this when we checked out!)
Great place to stay
Clean and comfortable room with good amenities.
